bread of choice: 2 slices
spreadable butter: 2 teaspoons
marinara sauce: 2 tablespoons
pepperoni slices: 6
shredded mozzarella: 6 tablespoons
Step 1: Evenly spread the butter on one side of each of the slices of bread.
Step 2: Evenly spread the marinara sauce on the un-buttered side of each of the slices of bread.
Step 3: Sprinkle half of the cheese onto one of the slices (over the marinara sauce). Then layer the pepperoni slices over the cheese. Sprinkle the second half of the cheese over the pepperoni slices. Place the other slice of bread (butter side facing up) over the filling.
Step 4: Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, place the layered sandwich onto the pan and cook for about 4–6 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the cheese on the inside is melty. Allow to cool slightly before cutting in half and serving.
